William E. Mann has been a professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vermont since 1974.
Mann’s most recent published work includes essays on the interpretation of various medieval philosophers along with a series of papers in philosophical theology that investigate various connections between religion and ethics.
Mann regularly teaches introductory-level courses (Introduction to Philosophy: Selected Problems, Introduction to Logic) along with an intermediate-level course in the History of Ancient Philosophy and an advanced undergraduate seminar dealing with the philosophical interrelations between religion and ethics.

William was born in 1738 in Colchester, but his father enlisted in the Army before the birth of William’s  brother in 1740; by 1745, William and his brother were in the care of a widow, Elizabeth MANN, possibly their aunt or stepmother.
William and Elizabeth may now have moved to Lexden near Colchester where a daughter Elizabeth was baptised in 1777, but no further records of William or Elizabeth are known.
William and Elizabeth at Abberton can be assumed to be the same as the Colchester parents as there is a removal order of Elizabeth MANN from St Botolph Colchester to Abberton dated 28Apr1763 and another removal order of William and Elizabeth MANN and children from St Botolph to Abberton dated 14Dec1765.

In 1925, Mann was appointed the fifth Superintendent of the NZP.
Mann's major achievements during his tenure as head administrator of the NZP included the Park's building program, 1927-1940, and his various expeditions to collect live animals in order to increase the NZP population.
Mann was also an honorary curator of Entomology at the United States National Museum during almost his entire career, and donated his entomological collection to the USNM.

 Essex Police Memorial Trust: William A Mann
William Mann’s service with the Essex Constabulary was short: just two months from 6th June 1914 before he too was recalled for army service on the outbreak of war on 4th August 1914.
He is buried in grave A.28 at Chapelle-d'Armentieres Old Military Cemetery in Nord, France..
His mother, Mrs E. Mann, was living in Wix Cross, Essex, at the time the police war memorial was unveiled in 1920.

I have some vague information that there was a William Mann b abt 1795 who married a Miss Cfford and they had a daughter Hannah Mann.
I have Hannah as being born on PEI and marrying her 2nd cousin George Brace.

Hello, I was confused by an anectdote towards the end of "Behind The Screen." In the description of the murder of William D. Taylor, William J. Mann states that Taylor was shot in the head.
Considering the extensive and well-written research that fills his book, I was surprised by this mention.
In all the documents I've read, including his death certificate, William Desmond Taylor's wound was through his chest.
