McInnes starred on the show until 1998, when he left to focus on other work.
In 2002, McInnes was part of the cast of Marshall Law, which was cancelled after one season; and he returned for several episodes of Blue Heelers in 2004 and 2005.
William has released his first book A Man's Got to Have a Hobby (Hachette Livre) on 1 August 2005 and his latest movie Look Both Ways written and directed by his wife, Sarah Watt, was released nationally in Australia on 18th of August 2005.

It doesn't take an Einstien IQ to tell that but when you start to trumpet about saving the local film industry, "give me a break!" Now while that may seem a little harsh I would like to praise both William McInnes and Justine Clarke who play the lead roles.
It's a brave little film that features groundbreaking animated segments which leap out at the unsuspecting viewer, but while McInnes and Clarke give solid performances in the lead roles and the storyline ain't half bad, the overall finish of the film leaves a lot to be desired.
It will appeal best to the thirtyish plus age group and anyone who out there who is still interested in local productions.

For season three, I'm happy to say that the article says that "scripting for a new series is under way and with Sigrid Thornton and William McInnes firmly on board to pick up the bubbling cauldron of Laura and Max's love match, the seaside drama is on a roll".
According to Deb, William's newly developed chest muscles are purely in the interest of character portrayal and were never intended to set viewers' pulses racing.
