William Edward Nordeen was the United States defense and naval attache to the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Greece.
The 51 year-old US Navy captain was driving in an armor-plated sedan near Athens when a car bomb was detonated next to him via remote control.
Nordeen was survived by his wife, Patricia, and he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.

William Henry PARKEN got the paper weight in 1903 at the Worlds Fair at St. Louis MO. He was for several years a successful teacher in the public schools of Washington County, Kansas.
William H. PARKEN ("Bill" or "Billy") was probably best known as a rural mail carrier serving on Route No. 1 1917 to 1935, one who often made his appointed rounds by horse power over bottomless roads.
William Henry PARKEN was buried at Dwight Cemetery After her husband's early death in 1935, she and the children continued on the farm.

Police said Christodoulos Xiros confessed to and was charged with participating in attacks from 1984 to 1992 resulting in the murder of nine people, including two American military officials -- U.S. Embassy defense attache Capt. William Nordeen in June 1988 and Air Force Sgt. Ronald O. Stewart in March 1991.
He also confessed to bombing two buses carrying American servicemen in 1987 which left 23 people injured, as well to thefts of anti-tank rockets from a military base in 1989 and of bazookas from Athens' War Museum in 1990.

NET said Xiros confessed to involvement in nine killings and dozens of bomb and rocket attacks, and apologized to the families of his victims.
They allegedly also included a Turkish diplomat and Capt. William Nordeen, a U.S. military attache killed in a 1988 car-bomb attack.
Xiros, a religious icon painter whose two brothers are also terrorist suspects, gave testimony after being charged with Saunders' murder and numerous other serious offenses.

Patroklos Tselentis, who allegedly operated under the aliases of ''Alekos'' or ''Tenias'', told appeals magistrate Leonidas Zervobeakos that he had taken part in the assassination of a local industrialist, Dimitris Angelopoulos, a newspaper publisher, Nicos Momferatos and US military attache William Nordeen, among others.
According to the same sources, Savvas Xiros, whose arrest exactly one month ago provided authorities with a veritable "Rosetta Stone" breakthrough in tracking down the elusive terrorist group, completed his bedside testimony before a local prosecutor.
