William George Rushton, commonly known as Willie Rushton (August 18, 1937 in Chelsea, London –December 11, 1996) was an English cartoonist, satirist, comedian, actor and performer.
Rushton was a co-founder of Private Eye with his Shrewsbury School peers Christopher Booker, Paul Foot and Richard Ingrams, originally acting as the magazine's layout artist.
Rushton died from complications from a heart operation on December 11, 1996.

A disease Rushton was to contract himself when he was the only member of the crew who took pity on the slaves and tried to ease their suffering.
William Rushton died on the 22 November 1814 of Paralysis, and was buried in St James Cemetery, Liverpool.

William George Rushton was born 18 August, 1937 in the family home in Scarsdale Villas, Kensington (which 24 years later was to also be the birthplace of “Private Eye”).
After the strip folded Rushton still contributed a weekly political cartoon to the “Liberal News” until mid-1962 (which meant lots of caricatures of Kennedy, de Gaulle and Jo Grimmond (well, it was the LIBERAL News)).
Rushton was involved as one of the hosts in the early episodes of another satirical programme in late 1964 “Not So Much A Programme…”, but drifted away as it became the vehicle that launched David Frost as a chat show host.
