		Cooper’s closest rival among the romancers of his school was William Gilmore Simms (1806–70) of South Carolina.

		Abiel Starbuck Hussey, daughter of Jonathan Hussey and Hepzibah Hussey, was born 4th 8th month, 1746, according to "Vital Records of Dartmouth." She was married November 14, 1767 to Shadrack Dennis of Cambridge, New York.
		A William Hussey appeared as the head of a household in adjoining Onandago County, New York in the 1850 census.
