 The Trousdale Place
Bowen died in 1822, and the house was later acquired by Governor William Trousdale.
In 1899, Annie Berry Trousdale, daughter-in-law of William Trousdale, deeded the home to the Clark Chapter #13 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy to honor all veterans and in particular, veterans of the Confederacy.
To memorialize the Trousdale’s military history and the service of approximately 3,000 Confederate soldiers from Sumner County, a monument was erected on the front lawn of Trousdale Place on September 19, 1903.

Trousdale (AKA-79) was laid down under a Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 1386) on 22 April 1944 at Wilmington, N.C., by the North Carolina Shipbuilding Corp.; launched on 3 July 1944; sponsored by Mrs.
Trousdale moored at San Diego, Calif., on 18 January 1946, but soon headed for Panama and steamed through the Canal on 2 February, exactly one year to the day since her first transit.
Trousdale was decommissioned on 29 April 1946, returned to the War Shipping Board of the Maritime Commission on the 30th, assigned to the National Defense Reserve Fleet, and berthed in the James River.

 TN Encyclopedia: TROUSDALE COUNTY
The general assembly established Trousdale County in 1870 when it carved the new jurisdiction from portions of Macon, Smith, Sumner, and Wilson Counties.
Early historical accounts of Trousdale County noted it for two developments: a quarry that produced high-quality grist stones for Middle Tennessee's water-powered mills and a horse racetrack at Hartsville.
In 1849 they convinced William B. Bate to introduce a resolution in the Tennessee House of Representatives that would amend the constitution and allow for the county's creation, but the matter died in a house committee.

William B. Campbell, lawyer, soldier, state legislator, congressman, and governor, was born on Mansker's Creek, Sumner County, on February 1, 1807, the son of David and Catherine Bowen Campbell.
In 1851 Campbell ran as the Whig candidate for governor and defeated Democratic incumbent William Trousdale.
The adjutant general of the United States Army named the camp in honor of William Bowen Campbell to perpetuate the memory of this outstanding soldier, lawyer, judge, and public figure who devoted nearly four decades to the service of his state and country.

The only other John Trousdale, son of Capt. James, born in 1762, left Orange Co. ahead of his father, married in Kentucky and later returned to Sumner Co., TN, joining his father, John Trousdale, son of William, was among the last to migrate to Tennessee.
