WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, NORTHAMPTON COUNTY (March 12) — The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) found 13 violations out of 39 trash trucks inspected March 11 at the Chrin Landfill in Williams Township, Northampton County, according to DEP Northeast Regional Solid Waste Manager William Tomayko.
WILLIAMSPORT (March 1) — Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Regional Director Robert Yowell today announced that Benton Foundry Inc. of Sugarloaf Township, Columbia County, paid a $912 fine and $2,737 to fund a Community Environmental Project for air quality violations at its plant.
LEBANON TOWNSHIP, Wayne County (March 28) -- On behalf of Gov. Mark Schweiker, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary David E. MILL CREEK TOWNSHIP, MERCER COUNTY: Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen A. McGinty today visited Three Sisters Farm in Mill Creek Township, Mercer County, where $6,103 from the Pennsylvania Energy Harvest grant program will be used to install a 110-watt photovoltaic pump system for seasonal irrigation.
WILLIAMSPORT: The Department of Environmental Protection today issued a notice of violation letter to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation regarding degradation to Buffalo Run and an unnamed tributary at the Interstate 99 construction area at Skytop, Centre County, DEP Northcentral Regional Director Robert Yowell announced.

WILKES-BARRE: Operational and safety violations were found on 31 trash trucks during inspections July 13 at the Interstate 78 Welcome Center in Williams Township, Northampton County, and July 14 at a rest stop on Interstate 84 in Palmyra Township, Pike County, according to Environmental Protection Northeast Region Director Michael Bedrin.
On July 14, DEP regional staff inspected 85 trash trucks at the westbound rest stop on I-84 in Palmyra Township, Pike County, and found 17 trucks with violations.
The inspections were conducted in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Police and state Department of Transportation’s Motor Carrier Enforcement section.
