Willis was a member of the Alabama legislature in 1828 and 1829.
On 5 Jan 1838, Willis Banks of Tuscaloosa, AL bought various parcels of land in Lowndes Co. from three Lewis men for $11,700.

 The Little family story
He was followed by Willis, baptised on the 1st January 1781, Elizabeth, baptised on the 29th September 1783, Walter (II), baptised 31st December 1786, Thomas, baptised on the 16th August 1789, Thomas baptised on the 1st January 1792 and Ann baptised on the 23rd May 1794.
It is possible that Willis, son of Richard and Hannah, was living in the Newlands Valley, near Keswick, in the late 1830s as a Willis little, married to Tamar, is recorded as having a daughter, Elizabeth, in 1837.
Willis, as has already been noted was living with Thomas, the son of John Little, eldest son of Walter Little, and Mary Hall and was an apprentice in the grocery business.

The Alston family was a prosperous planter family that moved to Florida around 1830 after purchasing large amounts of farmland between the Georgia border and Tallahassee.
Alston was arrested and jailed but later escaped, due primarily to political influence and approximately $30,000 in bribes.
Alston never got to use it, however, for later that same night, friends of Dr. Stewart stormed the jail, overpowered the Marshall and dragged Alston outside and fired a volley of bullets into him.

Joseph John Alston was justice of the peace of Edgecombe Precinct, member of Assembly, and owner of about 100,000 acres of land in eastern and central North Carolina counties, including 4,000 acres in current Warren, then Bute, purchased from his nephew Soloman Alston and willed to his son Henry.
Willis Alston's contributions to the state are legend; six years in the Legislature, member of Congress, 1803-1831, and Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee during the War of 1812.
Willis, Princeton educated son of William's brother and sister-in-law, John and Anne Hunt (Macon) Alston of Warren County, was named as executor of his uncle, William Alston's 1789 Chatham County will.

ALSTON, Willis, statesman, born in Halifax County, North Carolina He first appears in the colonial records of the Halifax district, North Carolina, in 1776, was a member of the provincial house of commons 1791-'92, and member of congress from 1799-1803.
His son, Willis, Jr., died 10 April 1837, was a member of the state legislature in 1794 and afterward, and a member of congress in 1803-'15 and in 1825-'31.
During the war of 1812-'15 with Great Britain, he was chairman of the ways and means committee of the House of Representatives.
