This merged in 1971 with the Northampton School for Girls, its sister organization since 1924, and the campus was consolidated in Easthampton while retaining the Northampton nomenclature.
The school had 545 students in the 2003-2004 academic year, including 91 in the middle school (7th and 8th grade), all of whom are day students.
In 1996, the school’s old gym was converted into a student center, housing history, art and music classrooms, student mailboxes, day student lockers, lounges, and a snack bar.

 The Gunnery - On The Go
On October 8, 2005, The Gunnery varsity football team defeated rivals Williston Northampton School at the annual match for the Ogden D. Miller trophy, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
The trophy was the idea of Nancy Lemcke, former Gunnery head Michael Eanes and then Williston headmaster, Dennis H. Grubbs to honor Ogden Miller, a 1926 graduate and trustee (1936-1954) of Williston as well as longtime headmaster of The Gunnery (1946-1969).
The typical boarding school adjustments (from community living and a rigorous schedule) are compounded by culture shock, extreme weather, time changes and homesickness for Gunnery's international students.

The best thing that happened to me in boarding school was being named captain of the varsity hockey team at the end of my junior year.
There were ample stores and shops to provide all of the necessities and Northampton and Holyoke were also very close by to provide anything out of the ordinary.
You never felt out of place or second rate among the children of some of the elite in New England and the U.S. I was worried at first that private school students would be snobbish but this couldn't be further from the truth.
