First published during the span of 1920 to 1922, Williston wrote 5 volumes of "The Law of Contracts" which were widely acclaimed as the foremost authority on the topic and was later enlarged in 1938.

Williston was one of ten towns granted on the same day to many of the same people, named for Samuel Willis, a wealthy Quaker from Long Island and the first grantee named.
Thomas Chittenden, Vermont's first governor and for whom the county is named, is credited with being the first to settle in Williston, though he submerged the family's heavier belongings in the duck pond and headed for Arlington during the Revolution.
In the 1970s, Williston was the center of controversy in the county, as the proposed site of a large shopping mall near the junction of Routes 2 and 2A; "Don't Mall Williston" was the bumper sticker seen on opponents' cars.

WILLISTON -- Funding for bus service to and from Williston is drying up, and the Chittenden County Transportation Authority is asking the town to chip in $160,000 to save the service.
CCTA is asking Williston for about $130,000 toward the Williston route, plus about $30,000 to cover the costs of bus access for people with handicaps, which is a federal requirement.
The Williston Selectboard is expected to decide by the middle of January whether to fund the bus service.
