  Filmtracks: Willow (James Horner)
The boy's and women's choir, which opens and closes the film with a simple three note theme that would become a Horner trademark in his children's film scores of the early 90's, adds sensitivity to the softer moments of the score.
One of the greatest challenges in making Willow was to transport the audience to a time when extraordinary acts of magic and sorcery were a part of everyday life, while keeping us in touch with the timeless human issues we all relate to.
In special effects films you'll be going along and then all of a sudden you'll cut to a different sequence or a different scene, and then you'll cut back to the original scene, and so forth.

Willow: The Making of an Adventure starts out extremely corny and certainly has dated production values, but it's actually much better than almost any of the HBO First Look specials that we are inundated with these days.

Willow is a landmark in the evolution of visual effects technology, no question, but it works a good deal better as a portfolio for ILM techies than a showcase for such hoary and decrepit entertainment standards as acting, screenwriting, plotting, and direction.

This film is based on the life of Ray Charles, the acclaimed and blind Soul musician who also loses his eyesight at a young age.
During the entire film, the director never allows even for a moment, for viewers to perceive the blindness of Ray Charles as a disability and use it to provoke their feelings.
It is true that this film is a biography, but without a doubt the real Ray Charles suffered much in his life because of his blindness, but the director did not allow this suffering to be included, for his main goal was to prevent the image of a proud and self-sufficient personality to become tainted.

The physical stunts by Maggie Q as a lethal martial arts expert and Cyril Raffaelli as a Eurotrash sniper who rappels buildings are more thrilling than the over-the-top chase sequences, so contrived as to verge on self-parody.
This film is not a good advertisement for the quality of American flyover construction though.
Everything that happens is total BS but what you end up with is a fast paced enjoyable film which remains true to its predecessors.
