  Willys Go Devil engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Willys L134 (nicknamed Go Devil) was a straight-4 automobile engine made famous in the Jeep produced in World War II.
The engine displaced 134 in³ (2.2 L) with a 3.125 in (79.4 mm) bore and 4.375 in (111.1 mm) stroke.
The L134 was replaced by the F-head Willys Hurricane engine beginning in 1950.

The F-Head 134 inline 4 was the standard engine in the CJ-5 and CJ-6 from their introduction until 1971.
The F represents the valve configuration where one set of valves is in the head and one is in the block.

One of the cars that put the roar in the Roaring 20's was John North Willys' 1926 Overland Whippet with its new 4-cylinder engine, which later became the basis of the "Go-Devil" engine used in the jeeps of World War II.

I have not rebuilt my F4-134 engine, but I have done about as much as can be done without a total rebuild.
In the May of 1998, the engine was running really rough.
For those who are unfamiliar with compression tests, you remove the sparkplugs, disconnect the coil wire, screw a compression gauge into a sparkplug hole and crank the engine 5 or 6 times.

The car has power steering and power brakes, Hydra-matic, all the window mouldings are chrome plated, a Willys Hurricane engine with the old-type exhaust manifold and a heat-riser unit similar to the '51 and '52 Kaisers.

The 3A waiting in the garage for me. It is be-headed, and I will continue tearing the engine down when I get back.  It has a GPW head on it.  Block prefix is UP, so I don't know where this engine came from...
This is actually the 2nd Willy that I have owned but the first was a piece of rust.
Super Hurricane 226, 22,000 original miles  Paint, wheels, front bumper and 12volt system are only non-original items.  Have original wheel stored in garage.  Truck was stored in gas station garage for most of it's life.
