Wilmington, a port in northern Delaware, is the largest city in the state.
Delaware, though officially a Union State, was divided in its support of both the Confederate and the Union soldiers; the northern part of the state was largely Union, while the southern part of the state leaned toward the Confederacy.
Wilmington is a venue for the Court of Chancery, along with Dover and Georgetown in Kent and Sussex Counties, respectively (the venue is chosen by the judge hearing the case).

Delaware is home to approximately 20,000 Jews, who are served by the Jewish Community Center in Brandywine (outside of Wilmington) and by a number of educational, social and cultural agencies supported by the Jewish Federation of Delaware.
