Popo Agie Wilderness in the Wind River Range
The Wind River Range (or "Winds" for short), is a sub-range of the Rocky Mountains in western Wyoming in the United States.
Within the Winds, numerous lakes were formed by the glaciers and numerous cirques, or circular valleys, were carved out of the rocks, the most well known being the Cirque of the Towers, in the southern section of the range.

The Winds are a Northwest-Southeast trending mountain range which spans roughly 150 N-S miles in central Wyoming.

Temperatures in the Wind Rivers have gone up as much as six degrees in the last 40 years, according to research done by a team led by Utah-based U.S. Geological Survey scientist David Naftz.
If the current warming trend continues, the Wind Rivers' glaciers Ñ which represent the largest concentration of alpine glaciers left in the American Rockies Ñ may be gone in as few as 30 years.
