Windows Me (IPA pronunciation: [em.iː]), also known as Windows Millennium Edition is a hybrid 16-bit/32-bit graphical operating system released on September 14, 2000 by Microsoft.
Windows Me had the shortest shelf-life of all the Windows Operating Systems (about one year), and was soon replaced by Windows XP, which was launched on October 25, 2001.
Windows Me was complemented by Windows NT-based Windows 2000, which was aimed at professional users.

A clean install is usually done with a Windows Me Full Version CD but a clean install can also be done with a Windows Me Upgrade or Promotional Disk provided you have a prior version of Windows 9x to satisfy the request for Authenticity that is checked for at the beginning of the install.
The Windows Me Startup disk is a Real DOS disk and can be used just as the previous versions were used.
If you are doing the install with a Windows Upgrade disk make sure you have a version of your previous OS handy to satisfy the authenticity check during the Windows setup.

Windows 95 and 98 had a secret key combination that would restart Windows quickly without going through the warm boot process.

Best bet is to download them, upzip them to a new folder where you also put makeboot.exe and makebt32.exe into and then run one of the makeboot utils depending on if you're in dos or windows to create the diskset.
