The Whip: a 1940's Comic Book Adventure hero
Wing Tai works for Rod Gaynor as his servant; Carlos is a poor Mexican-American farmer; Padre Demo is the elderly but courageous priest in the Western town of Seguro; Marisa Dillon is a crusading young newspaperwoman, her father owns the small newspaper, the Seguro Sentinel.
Wing Tai might have been inspired by the Crimson Avenger's equally sympathetic Chinese servant Wing.

Encyclopedia :: encyclopedia : Left-wing politics   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-24)
In politics, left-wing, the political left or simply The Left are terms that refer to the segment of the political spectrum typically associated with any of several strains of socialism or social democracy/Social liberalism.
Left-wing positions on social issues, such as opposition to social hierarchy and authority over moral behaviour, strict adherence to tradition, and monoculturalism, may make them allies with advocates of right wing advocates of "individual freedom", though their solutions are very differnt.
At the level of practical political policy, there are endless variations in the means that left wing thinkers advocate to achieve their basic aims, and they sometimes argue with each other as much as with the right.

'Nuff Said! the sound of comics on WBAI-FM
Instead of informing himself, however, about new trends and more politicized, mature comics, he remembers or misremembers what comics were about, perhaps the worst aspects if they were that; I’m not sure the comics of the '60s & '70s are that bad now.
I’m afraid neither mainstream nor alternative comics publishers are producing the kind of comics I’d like to see nor are they reaching a broad enough spectrum of working and lower middle class people.
Comics and new alternative films distributed by some sort of underground industry separate from the mass media mainstream control is our only hope as artists and writers who don't want to sell out.

But in comedy clubs nationwide, a growing number of stand-up comics are carving a niche by being unabashedly political — and on the right.
But right-wing comics are trying to win the hearts of people who love to laugh, and hate hearing "Bush is an idiot" jokes.
Comics eyeing the right-wing niche face several obstacles beyond being dissident voices in a world of presumed liberalism.

 X-wing
While the TIE wing panels are loaded with pipes and tubes for coolant, the insides of the X-wing's S-foils are dedicated to structural supports.
Either the fuel stored in the wing tanks isn't as volatile as fuel stored in the hull, the shots missed the tanks themselves, or the distance from the main hull insulates the rest of the ship in case of denotation (the latter being the most likely case).
Doing so would weaken their attachment to the wing if the point of rotation is located where the body connects to the S-foil, and placing it at the base of the firing barrel would weaken the structure at that point.

Since the graphics are cut to a minimum, the combat stays at a relatively quick pace, which keeps the energy level of the gameplay high.
Something like that needed to be added to Wing Commander Prophecy, since there's a good chance that players will die in the first mission...and since they can't save their game until after the first mission's over, these players will have to go through the introduction again.

Public Square 12 - Carville and Liberal Man (Jul 2001)
If some tend to claim - with at least a little justice - that comics, where bothering to pursue political ideas at all, pursue left-wing ideas, a peculiar series called Liberal Man from the late eighties serves to argue that Steve Ditko holds no particular monopoly on material that pursues right-wing themes.
