In winters, Winnisquam Lake is covered with ice which could be as much as 16"-18" of hard, clear ice.
There are bobhouses spread across the entire lake, with colonies at the south end (Mosquito Bridge, Mohawk Island), at the mouth of the Winnipesaukee River where it flows into Lake Winnisquam, and off the Belmont Town Beach.
There appears to be super abundant age classes working their way through the fishery now, as 14"-19" lake trout make up the bulk of fish you will catch on Winnisquam -- of course with larger fish sprinkled in the mix.
