Winston Hill (born October 23, 1941) was a Tennis Champion in High School and an American college and professional football player.
Hill was an overpowering blocker who was instrumental in opening gaping holes for Matt Snell in the Third AFL-NFL World Championship Game (Super Bowl III) as the Jets decimated the right side of the Baltimore Colts defensive line and Snell gained 121 yards rushing in the Jets 16-7 upset victory.
He was selected to the second-team All-time All-American Football League Team and is a member of the Texas Southern Sports Hall of Fame and the New York Jets All-Time team.

Hill created his first painting documenting The Winston in 1987 -- the year Dale Earnhardt, Geoff Bodine and Bill Elliott waged all out war in their quest for supremacy in racing's most prestigious non-points event.
As Hill notes, there is no such thing as a routine race when it comes to The Winston.
That artwork was the initial release in Hill's Great Moments in Racing Series, and is one of the most recognizable racing prints of all time.

Hill's melodic baritone sounds utterly natural, relaxed and timeless, dovetailing smoothly into the instrumentation, giving each sweet melody a wholeness, an eavesdropping intimacy, that sounds as if the band was playing live.
Hill is a country songwriter, and both the lyrics and the arrangements reflect this.
Hill’s take on the tune, dramatically different than Kershaw’s stone cold country approach, illustrates the power and magic to be found in different artists’ individual interpretations of the same piece.

Winston's musical sense is always very good, and it certainly didn't fail him here as he mixes his jazz-like approach with a melodic tradition.
From the beginning, Winston has called himself a "folk pianist" rather than "new age," and quite a few of the tracks are folk or traditional songs that Winston arranged as piano solos.
Winston mentions in his liner notes that he is playing a lot of solo piano dances, and he includes some of his favorite pieces from those as well.

Mixing traditional carols, a couple of classical works, and his own originals, Winston drops notes with icy clarity into a winter silence, rippling through "Carol of Bells" and coaxing dark, introspective moods from his own suite, "Night." The pianist's liner notes are also a trip as he cites the numerous sources for his music.
Recorded when "new age" music was barely emerging and Windham Hill was an experimental artists' label, this is one of a handful of albums that show just how good the music was when artists had more control of what went onto their albums.
Winston's combination of gentle single key piano playing combined with the passionate chords and melodies will make the winter scenes come alive, from the simple icicle you see melting off a leaf, to the majesty of the hills, trees, and mountains as you drive through.
