The Cadillac Winter Garden Theatre is located on the east side of Broadway between 50th and 51st Street.
In 1928, the theater was leased by Warner Brothers and changed to a movie house, but unlike many theaters that suffered this fate during the Depression, the Winter Garden soon regained legitimacy when, in 1933, it reopened with Hold Your Horses.

Gerald Schoenfeld, the chairman of the Shubert Organization, which owns the theater, said Thursday that his company had ended discussions with General Motors about changing the name of the Winter Garden, home to ``Cats,'' to the Cadillac Winter Garden, or some variation thereof, in exchange for corporate sponsorship.
The announcement came just a day after the Roundabout Theater Company announced it was selling the name of the historic Selwyn Theater, its new home, to American Airlines, a deal that was greeted with a mix of approval and skepticism.
As for the Winter Garden, Schoenfeld offered no additional comment, and a call to GM was not immediately returned.

The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation has begun the restoration of the "Garden Theatre" located at 160 West Plant Street in historic downtown Winter Garden, Florida.
The ceiling of the theatre was dark blue, resplendent with "stars." Several renovations changed the face of the theatre until it closed in 1962, as movie attendance declined in the new age of television.
