RFC 981 (rfc981) - Experimental multiple-path routing algorithm   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Wiretap uses passive monitoring of frames transmitted on the channel in order to build a dynamic data base which can be used to determine optimum routes.
Note that Wiretap in effect constructs minimum-distance paths in the RFC 981 March 1986 An Experimental Multiple-Path Routing Algorithm direction from the destination station to the Wiretap station and, based on that information, then computes the optimum reciprocal routes from the Wiretap station to the destination station.
V (0) wiretap RFC 981 March 1986 An Experimental Multiple-Path Routing Algorithm Presumably, the fact that the header was heard from station 2 indicates the path from station 4 to station 2 and then to station 0 is viable, so that each link along this path can be marked "heard" in that direction.

Telephone tapping - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Telephone tapping or wire tapping/ wiretapping (in US) is the monitoring of telephone conversations by a third party, often by covert means.
In the United States, federal agencies may be authorized to engage in wiretaps by the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, a court with secret proceedings, in certain circumstances.
The Administrative Office of the United States Courts reports annually to Congress the number and nature of federal and state wiretap applications, along with the number of times encryption was encountered (once in 2003).

U.S. District Judge Walker Miller ruled that the FBI had not shown the legal "necessity'' of the wiretaps and ruled the evidence gathered by the wiretaps was inadmissible.
A wiretap is considered the most intrusive of all investigative tools and is granted only after all other routine or normal investigative techniques have been exhausted.
To obtain a wiretap, the investigative agency must prove to a judge that it has exhausted all normal investigative techniques, such as surveillance, using informants and undercover agents, making controlled buys of drugs, tailing suspects and even going through someone's trash.

WireTap is a screen capture program for audio — so instead of taking a photo of the application you’re using, it records any audio that your Mac’s playing.
There are all kinds of perfectly legitimate uses for WireTap, but we don’t think that will stop the record industry having a screaming fit.
We like WireTap a lot: it’s elegantly designed and as the Ronseal Advert bloke might put it, it does exactly what it says on the tin.

While the wiretap laws establish important protections -- most notably requiring for interception of call content a judicial order based on a finding of probable cause -- in practice state and federal judges rarely deny applications for authority to conduct electronic surveillance.

The only way to accomplish this from within WireTap Pro is to create and schedule a Recording Session for the length of the keynote broadcast (though an AppleScript to do timed recordings is available from the Ambrosia Software Web site.).
WireTap Pro is still a 1.0 product, so there are understandably some places where it could be improved.

 Gilday v. DuBois
The Langton panel majority first decided that the parties had relinquished their respective rights to litigate the meaning of the wiretap statutes underlying the injunction, and then determined that no authoritative decision, existing at the time the Langton injunction issued, specifically supported the challenged MITS monitoring and recording practices.
For the foregoing reasons, we conclude that the DOC is entitled to litigate the meaning of the applicable wiretap statutes.
Thus, implicit in the stance taken by Gilday now is the suggestion that the DOC defendants impliedly conceded prior violations of the relevant wiretap statutes simply by entering into the stipulation of dismissal, whereas the record flatly contradicts any such concession.
