Karen Wisden v. The Superior Court of Los Angeles County (California 12/03/2004)
While acknowledging Wisden's assertion that her cause of action was a common law claim, the court held the cause [*5] of action was equitable in nature.
We conclude Wisden is entitled to a trial by jury on her cause of action for fraudulent conveyance.
Indeed, Wisden did so in her second cause of action, and she is not entitled to (and does not seek) a jury trial on that cause.

Wisden attacked cricket's ruling body, the ICC, and officials from Australia and India for their inaction on the sport's match-fixing scandal, accusing them of being "besotted by the opiate of their own importance".
Wisden said the ICC's initial response to Cronje's admission was to resist calls for a worldwide inquiry into corruption.
Wisden also had harsh words for Australian cricket officials for failing to reveal in 1995 that Mark Waugh and Shane Warne had admitted accepting money from a bookmaker.

Wisden Cricketers' Almanack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wisden Cricketers' Almanack (often referred to simply as Wisden or colloquially as "the Bible of Cricket") is by far the best known reference book concerned with the sport of cricket, and is among the most famous sports reference books published in the United Kingdom.
It was founded in 1864 by the English cricketer John Wisden (1826-1884), and its annual publication has continued uninterrupted to the present day, making it the longest running sports annual in history.
Wisden is a small-paged but very thick book (over 1,500 pages in modern editions) with a distinctive bright yellow cover that it has carried since the 75th edition in 1938 – in previous years, covers varied between yellow, buff and salmon pink.

Traditionalists may eschew the placement of a photograph on the cover of the 2003 Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, as opposed to its familiar, fondly regarded woodcut.
Traditionalists have professed shock at the 140th edition of Wisden because of the temerity of its new editor, Tim de Lisle, to put a photograph on the jacket for the first time.
Wisden also records a more prosaic disruption: a county championship match at the Oval had to start 90 minutes late because of a traffic jam.

Wisden 2001 records a year when the scandal of match-fixing rocked cricket's very core: Mihir Bose, the Daily Telegraph's award-winning columnist, examines the naming and shaming of South Africa's captain, Hansie Cronje, by looking beyond the headlines to the cultural, economic and political interests in the power-struggle to control international cricket.
As usual Wisden is unmissable - the complete record of last year and (I write on the first day of the county championship) a foretaste of the delights of the English 'summer' to come.

Wisden Cricketers' Almanac - Cheap Christmas shopping
It's nearly forty years since I bought my first copy of 'Wisden', and the annual event of its release is something which is as reassuring, as inevitable, and as eagerly awaited as a child's Christmas.
