		The critically-acclaimed "Wiseguy," which originally premiered on CBS, follows Vinnie Terranova (Ken Wahl), an undercover officer for the "Organized Crime Bureau" of the federal government sent to infiltrate crime families.
		At the time of its first broadcast, Wiseguy was unique to the crime action genre; series creator Stephen J. Cannell introduced a hero who establishes an affinity with and becomes thoroughly involved in the crime families with which he is sent to infiltrate.
		As such, "Wiseguy" became a precursor of shows like the Soprano's, where the viewer becomes sympathetic with members of a crime family as multiple aspects of the characters are revealed.

		Wiseguy was one of the few extremely creative shows on TV.
		Wiseguy's first season was superb, not only because of Sharkey's work, but because of William Russ and his criminally underrated work as Roger Lococco (and the man knew how to wear those fl jeans!).
		In fact, at this minute I have on PVR "hold" the episode where Vinnie was given a locked case by a priest, a case that was his late brother Peter's and which contained a lot of info about the Terranova background.

	DVD Verdict Review - Wiseguy: Mel Profitt
		When Wiseguy made its initial television run in the late 1980s, it was an innovative blend of cop drama and soap opera.
		The arc's 11 episodes are spread over three discs, with a fourth disc adding a "bonus" episode from early in the show's second season (skipping a short arc in which Vinnie infiltrates a group of white supremacists) spotlighting Elsa Raven as Vinnie's very Italian momma.
		Wiseguy is a fun show, and I wish Wahl enjoyed sharing his memories with us more.

		Mainly this is a reflection of their overall lack of any kind of formal education.
		In Nicholas Pileggi's WiseGuy, the author makes note of the fact that Henry Hill spoke "fairly grammatically," which came as a surprise to Pileggi, as this was not common of Mafioso.
		However, this is probably due to the fact that Hill did not enter the Mafia until he was fourteen and had already developed a respectable grasp of standard (non-Mafia) English.
