		Wish You Were Here is a song cycle dedicated to Pink Floyd's original frontman, Syd Barrett, who'd flamed out years before: two grimly funny songs about the evils of the music business ("By the way, which one's Pink?"), and two long, touching ones about the band's vanished friend.
		The album is rounded out well by the second version of "Shine on." This album is clearly not as strong as Dark Side of the Moon, but then again, what is? Wish You Were Here is a great album, however, and should be considered among the best 20 or 25 in rock history.
		Wish You Were Here is equally as superb as Dark Side of the Moon and serves as a sequel with an emotional feel and blues-based, melodic background centered by outstanding guitars...

		Wish You Were Here is a concept album by Pink Floyd, widely regarded as their greatest album (along with The Dark Side of the Moon).
		The album was subsequently re-released on April 25, 2000 in time for for its 25th anniversary, on the Capitol Records label in the US, and on the EMI label for the rest of the world again using the 1992 remaster.
		Wish You Were Here peaked at #1 on Billboard's USA Pop Albums chart (where it stayed for two weeks in October, 1975) and stayed on the charts for a year.

	Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here Album Review
		Wish You Were Here pays tribute to Syd Barrett with the title track and the epic 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond.' The feeling that pervades the album is sadness and disillusionment.
		On Wish You Were Here the sadness has a soft, mellow quality but subsequent albums became more bitter and cynical as Waters' lyrics increasingly reflected his bleak perspective on the world.
		I recommend Wish You Were Here as the album to have from the peak of their career.

		Wish You Were Here also see's a little less psychadelia as the band seem to have been growing out of it since atom heart mother, still these are stoner anthems and trippy but its nice to see the band evolving into more meaningful music and lyrics.
		Each minute here is used as if it was the last one they had to show their talents, and when i say "their" i DO mean "their", because this is also the last album that Roger Waters considers himself a member of the band and not "the band", so everyone still contributes here.

		Lyrically, "Wish" is one of my Floyd favs, an obvious attempt by Roger Waters to somehow express his desire to Syd that he could join in the success, both critical and financial, that the band was enjoying at the time while doing things on their own terms.
		All of us were already very familiar with the album, but when he cranked up the volume and that opening keyboard chord came bubbling up from the silence without the usual tape hiss we had all grown accustomed to, a sigh of satisfaction came out of nearly everyone in the room.
		Wish You Were Here was my absolute favorite album for several years, and still occupies a very, very high spot in my hierarchy of Good Music.

		Somewhere I read that wywh was the last Floyd album that was a group effort.

		This collection is the beginning of the "golden age" in Odyssey for me (albums 21 - 27), in which every album is four stars.
		This album begins with Eugene and Bernard's road trip, which is wonderfully humorous (these two are quite the pair), but also quite emotional in parts, especially in The Fifth House on the Left.
		Connie's response was very typical of any AIO fan when they heard that the main character, the most always wished they themselves could actually meet, was leaving the show indefinitely.

		And so Welcome to the Machine, Have a Cigar and Wish You Were Here were born.
		This is one awesome album with almost no flaws but when I hear it I get the feeling that something is missing, maybe that is what they want me to feel.
		The guitar solos are great, the sax solos are great too, the keyboards are excellent, the drums has a very good entry and a nice beat and the junction of their voices are perfect.
