 RAILSCOT Chronology 1880 to 1889
This line was used in conjunction with a ferry over the Clyde and the Stobcross Railway station at Partick for shipyard workers who lived in Govan to travel to the new Clydebank shipyards which had re-located from Govan.
Stations opened at Wishaw Central and Overtown Waterloo.
North British Railway given running powers over the Alloa Railway and South Alloa Branch from Alloa to Greenhill Junction on payment of £3000 annually to the Caledonian Railway.

 Caledonian Railway
Later the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway was by-passed by an extension of the Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway to the Wishaw and Coltness Railway.

 RAILSCOT Chronology 1840 to 1849
This line later extended through to Whifflet and was used by the Wishaw and Coltness Railway and the Caledonian Railway to avoid the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway route through Coatbridge.
Originally promoted as the Ayr and Galloway Railway it was to run from Ayr to Dalmellington and on to Castle Douglas to join the British and Irish Grand Junction Railway, which later was opened as the Portpatrick Railway.
It served the Glasgow and Paisley Joint Railway and later the Glasgow Barrhead and Neilston Direct Railway and the Clydesdale Junction Railway.

Undated by late 1800s, shows all railways and stations at this period of time.
Originates from ex LBSC railway departures board at Brighton Station.

Memorials on grave at Marfaux British Cemetery, France and in Station Square, Dingwall, Scotland.

An ebony/wood cylindrical style whistle engraved "G.W.R." Originates from staff member employed at Weymouth Station (about 1900) and is in superb condition.

 Wishaw and Coltness Railway
Newmains to Wishaw Central and Shieldmuir was built (for the Caledonian Railway) by Duncan and Henderson of Edinburgh.
From here a spur runs over to the Wishaw Deviation Line for access to Wishaw station.
This is the junction between the Wishaw and Coltness's "main line" south to the Coltness Ironworks and the Cleland branch.

Wishaw also has a railway station on the Lanark to Glasgow line (Argyle Line), with a half hourly service to places such as Motherwell, Carluke, Hamilton, Cambuslang, Bellshill and Dalmuir.
On 4th September 1855, the town was incorporated with the villages of Coltness and Stewarton to form the Burgh of Wishaw, with a population of around 5,000.
Wishaw is a large burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.

 Overview of Wishaw
There is a large number of churches in the town centre as well as a railway station; nearby stand Coltness House and Cambusnethen Priory, and to the north across the Coltness Bridge is the village of Cleland.
A town in Clydesdale, Wishaw lies 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Motherwell and 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Glasgow.
Built on the line of a Roman road, the original weaving village of Wishawtoun developed in the 19th and 20th centuries in association with coal mining, iron smelting, whisky distilling and the manufacture of steel, lorries, clocks, rolling stock, sports goods and electronics.

 Later Developments
The Caledonian would have not been able to acquire the strategically important Wishaw and Coltness and Glasgow Garnkirk and Coatbridge Railways and therefore would have had to construct it's own route into Glasgow and to the North.
The Scottish Railway Preservation Society reopened the section between Manuel Junction and Bo'ness station in 1982, follow the link for full details of that line.
A later expansion to the system was the North Monkland Railway in 1872, which is described in the appendix to "Scottish Railway Locomotives", as "A Junction line connecting Ballochney and Slamannan Railways With Branches".

 Glasgow University Archive Services - Collections - Summary Catalogue - Records of the Glasgow, Garnkirk & Coatbridge Railway, Scotland
In 1843 the Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway opened a branch line from Gartsherrie, North Lanarkshire, to a new station in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire.
The following year the company obtained an Act of Parliament to change its name to the Glasgow, Garnkirk and Coatbridge Railway and extended the branch line to Whifflet, North Lanarkshire, where it linked with the Wishaw and Coltness Railway.
In 1844 the line leased for a period of 7 years the Caledonian and Dunbartonshire Junction Railway that linked Glasgow with Balloch, West Dunbartonshire and Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute.

 The Bus Station - Buses on Screen - New Sightings
From the shade of colour and the shape of the logo and the little I know of Los Angeles buses I think it is a Los Angeles Railway vehicle.
Alan Sinclair notes a MCW Metrobus of McKindless of Wishaw in one episode, and in another a low floor saloon, possibly Wright-bodied, of Arriva Scotland West.
There was a second bus which had a wooden radiator which was crashed into the Sentinel steam lorry.
