Witch flounder are associated with deep holes and channels between the coastal banks and along the deep edges of the banks where water temperatures are usually in a range suitable for their habitation.
The spawning season of witch flounder is rather extensive throughout the Northwest Atlantic and occurs in late spring to late summer, depending upon the geographical area of the spawning grounds.
In the Gulf of St. Lawrence, witch flounder is mainly a by-catch of the otter trawl fishery for cod and redfish in wintertime.

Three Against the Witch World (1965) is the story of Simon and Jaelithe's children, who come in conflict with the ruling female witches who cannot accept that Simon is a male with power, and who are angered that Jaelithe has given up her witch's vows in marrying him.
Warlock of the Witch World (1967) is the story of one of the three children, Kaththea, who almost becomes a victim of an evil magician.

Although the Witch World series is now considered fantasy, this first novel does not differ significantly from much of the author's science fiction.

Most of the Witch World series is written or co-written by Andre Norton.
If you have to pay "new book" prices for them, I couldn't recommend them, although if you find a second hand one for a dollar or two (deutchmark or zwei?) and have some free reading time on your hands, then it may be worth trying one to see if it is to your taste.
Andre Norton's Witch World novels are for the most part very good, many who came to Fantasy by reading the 'newer' authors may not like them a lot.
