		Some witches and shady foreigners have a couple of levels of Arcane; most wizards would regard it as a Disadvantage, as they prefer to be noticed and admired, but some theoretical quantum metaphysicists acquire it, as their insistence on talking shop over dinner leads other people to try to forget their existence.
		Witches are much more given to fully coincidental effects; they do also use spells, but even these tend to be relatively low-key.
		Witches and voodoo-workers also use dolls and dummies for attacks with a Correspondence-based aspect (in the old sense of "stick a pin in the doll, and the person goes ouch").

		Directions within the discworld are not given as north south east and west, but rather as directions relating to the disc itself, eg hubward (towards the centre), rimward (away from the centre) and to a lesser extent, turnwise and widdershins (relation to the direction of the disc's spin).

		I was fortunate enough to read Witches Abroad while on holiday in a country I'd never visited before, where the common language was one I spoke little of.
		As the witches -- bickering amongst themselves, as usual -- travel by broom, boat and other means of conveyance across the varied landscape of the Discworld, they meet, often offend and sometimes inadvertently help an amazingly varied population.
		A working knowledge of the witches, who've appeared previously in Equal Rites and Wyrd Sisters, is useful but not necessary to enjoy this book.

		It's difficult to review a Discworld novel because they manage to be both amazingly funny and poignant at the same time.
