 | | GEORGE B. WOLCOTT, private in the Forty-fourth Regiment, Company E, New York State Volunteers, was born at Penn Yan, Yates County, New York, August 31, 1848. |
 | | The regiment's term of service having expired, and but ten of the company being "present for duty," this remnant was consolidated with the One Hundred and Fortieth New York Volunteers, and fought with it in the closing campaign, and were mustered out in June, 1865. |
