Bei einem Lyrikabend in der Deutschen Akademie der Künste 1962 tritt Biermann erstmals öffentlich auf.
Biermanns Ausbürgerung löste eine Emigrationswelle von Schriftstellern und Künstlern aus der DDR aus, einige, unter ihnen auch der später freigekaufte Autor Jürgen Fuchs, wurden inhaftiert.
Biermann attackiert die Oppositionsgruppen der DDR sie seien "von Stasi-Metastasen zerfressen" und den Lyriker Sascha Anderson, der in der DDR als führender regimekritischer Literat galt, bezeichnete er als einen "Stasi-Spitzel".

It is a brilliantly written and performed German poetic folk album of 1969, and by now there is no one yet, who achieved to be that class.
Wolf Biermann has managed to just demonstrate what free speech is, the free speech of a superior poetrist, that led him to be disrespected fought against by both the socialist government in the former German Democratic Republic aswell as West Germany, where he emigrated to later.
Both hemispheres couldn’t take his artistic impact and opinion.
