Vienna School of Fantastic Realism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Vienna School of Fantastic Realism was a group of artists formed in Austria in 1946.
It includes Ernst Fuchs, Arik Brauer, Rudolf Hausner, Wolfgang Hutter, Anton Lehmden and Fritz Janschka, all students of Professor Albert Paris von Gutersloh at the Vienna Academy.
It was von Gutersloh's emphasis on the techniques of the Old Masters that gave the Fantastic Realist painters a grounding in realism (expressed with a clarity and detail some have compared to early Flemish painting) combined with religious and esoteric symbolism.

The outcome of this was that the ailerons were further massed balanced to prevent the high speed flutter which had caused the disintegration and a new type of airbrake was eveloped by Wolfgang Hütter.
April 1942, Clompe tested the new Schempp Hirth Air Brakes, develpoed by Wolfgang Hütter, in a Goevier for the first time.It was hoped that they would be suitable for both sailplanes and aeroplanes.
The three fans came out on both the upper and lower wing surfaces and restricted the Goeviers terminal velocity, with it’s loaded weight of 400kg, to 192kph, which was 9kph less than it’s terminl velocity with the previous air brakes. At 192kph, there was still slight aileron flutter.

This translation of Catherine Hutter is utterly incompetent.
Example: "I have spoken to my aunt and must say that I didn't find her to be the dreadful vehement woman with the kindest of hearts." The German reads: "Ich habe meine Tante gesprochen und bei weitem das boese Weib nicht gefundet, das man bei uns aus ihr macht.

When he arrived in Vienna in 1782, he had long abandoned the Church and had become a professor of literature, poet and rake.
The “Vienna School of Fantastic Realism“ with its main representatives Ernst Fuchs, Arik Brauer, Wolfgang Hutter, Anton Lehmden and Rudolf Hausner developed from the general reception of Surrealism during the first post-war years.
With its strong emphasis on representational art and on the techniques and contents of the Old Masters, this movement stood in strong contrast to avant-garde art, which entirely focused on the abstract.
