That was the indication given by Soccer NSW president Tom Doumanis yesterday when he announced plans for an exciting 16-team NSW Premier League, involving former national league clubs Sydney Olympic, Sydney United, Marconi and Wollongong, to start on November 20.
There are worrying times ahead for the Australian Soccer Association after the game's biggest stakeholder, Soccer NSW, announced yesterday it would not stand alone to represent Sydney in the new Australian Premier League.
Unless commercial partners come on board, or there is a marriage to Marconi or other investors, Soccer NSW's huge membership will wipe their hands of being involved.
