The Wolverhampton Varisty is a City Centre pub and live venue, part of the Varsity chain ofpublic houses.

The band pass on their apologies for not being able to play, especially for those of you who e-mailed to say you were coming to this one instead of the Halloween show that also got cancelled by the venue.
In addition to the show tomorrow at The Vine in Wolverhampton, two extra dates at the Revolution Bars in Wolverhampton and Walsall will be played by the band in a slightly reduced format, as various members are unavailable.

The Varsity had what seemed a reasonable choice of menu, so I ordered a Steak and Ale Pie at £3.99.
I was pleasantly surprised when the bar man offered me a choice of peas or beans and three sorts of potatoes.
As this is a chain of pubs I have no reason to expect any of the other Varsity pubs in Birmingham or other towns are any different.

It wasn’t Paris during the Revolution, it was Wolverhampton in January.
Drugstore were playing at the Varsity, a so-so venue: long and thin and rather an odd shape, which gave it a curious acoustic.
Two comments come to mind: firstly, it takes a great deal of love and admiration to generate that degree of disappointment, and secondly, the wording of the notice of cancellation was poor and was probably responsible for much of the uproar.

Instead I opt for a shower, which makes me feel hotter and stickier than I felt before, until I realised I was running around on the hotel roof, naked, and in fact not in the shower at all.
I decide to meet Dan and The Arms at the pub over the road from the venue because Anthony, VexNick, Keith, and Egg are in the garden eating, and see it as a nice way to introduce members of two equally nice bands.

The Varsity is a pub where all of the students from Wolverhampton University hang around, and has a very small live room upstairs where the current indie sensations usually play very loud indeed to a captive audience.
The students loved them, the musos all retired to the bar where "Abbey Road" was playing.
The students in the audience talked all of the way through the gig, not comprehending, whilst the local musos were learning as much as they could from one of very few true individuals in the music business today.
