Wolverine (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wolverine first appeared in one of the last pages of the Incredible Hulk #180 as a Canadian superhero and government agent fighting The Incredible Hulk and the Wendigo in order to halt the destruction in the wake of their battle.
Wolverine had strong memories of loving Silver Fox and living with her in a cabin before they were recruited into Team X, but whether or not those memories were true would tantalize him for a long time before he learned the truth.
Wolverine, as the most prominent member of the X-Men, has been the only X-Man to have been included in every adaptation of the X-Men franchise into non-comics media (including film, television, computer and video games) and is the only X-Man to have starred in his own video game.

In the film, his military background is moved to the foreground, and the religious aspect of the character is eliminated.
Instead of killing his wife and son in childbirth, the Stryker of the film sends his son (loosely based on the character Mastermind from the comics) to Xavier to be cured of his mutation.
The film continues the running gag of the rivalry between Wolverine and Cyclops, Wolverine having hijacked Cyclops' motorbike at the end of the first film.

Wolverine is probably the most popular X-Man. He was never really my favorite, but I enjoyed reading his adventures, and enjoyed seeing him in the X-Men movie.

Wolverine's Revenge (starring the popular X-Men character Wolverine) was full of great promise, allegedly giving the X-Men gaming franchise a much needed kick in the behind.
As an X-Men game, Wolverine's Revenge does an accurate job of not only portraying the main characters littered throughout the game, it also keeps the X-Men/Mythos and storylines intact (the Weapon X subplot and the addition of the little known villain character Wendigo are two examples of this).
Wolverine's famous mutant abilities such as his super-healing factor, enhanced senses, and berserker rage were also accurately portrayed in the game, right along side the X-Man's trademarked indestructible Adamantium claws and skeleton.

X2 and Wolverine's Search for Male Identity
Though I would argue that the film is centered on masculine identity, this requires an identification of the role of women.
Wolverine wishes to speak with him, but as he approaches, a wall of ice separates the two of them.
While I feel that Wolverine and his search for identity are at the center, there are many other stories and many other issues in the film.

Wolverine is such a potent and popular character, the possibilities are many.
A whole film with that style of fighting is an R, gory or not.
Films like "X2", "Mask of Zorro, and "Goldeneye" get away with a lot in their rating because they are clever about what they show and don't.

 Movie Review for X2: X-Men United - 2003-05-02
Rather, it's a slowly blooming flower we follow over the course of the film, as the pair try to deal with their unique abilities and how that will affect their relationship, as well as their hormone pounding need to satiate teenage driven lust.
Wolverine searches for answers regarding his past struggling with eternal rage as if to prove that Jackman hasn't lost his touch.
Wolverine's scenes alone could have easily made this thing rated R, had not Singer taken such great care when walking that gorey Logan line, something I think wholly appropriate for this type of film.

In an interview with Zap2it.com on Sunday (April 13), producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirms that she wants to see a spin-off live action film of "Wolverine" -- played by Hugh Jackman -- and possibly the bad-guy Magneto, who is played by Ian McKellen.
Wolverine, played by the Australian actor Jackman, is a hairy mutant with retractable knives that come out of his hands during battle and cause him great pain, but he also has super-healing powers and his wounds close quickly.
The first film broke all July box office records when it opened in 2000, earning $54.5 million opening weekend, and racking up $180 million worldwide throughout its run, the producers say.

Might the recently announced "Wolverine" spin-off movie [from "X-Men"] actually be a spin-off for both Wolverine 'and' Rogue (played by Anna Paquin in the films)?
If this is true, what this would mean is that the "Wolverine" film would be a sequel, set at the same time or after the "X-Men" films, since Wolverine didn't know Rogue until then, and not a prequel film which traces Wolverine's how's and why's, as previously mooted.
