Wonderama - Nostalgia Central   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Wonderama, a Sunday morning variety show for children that ran from the mid-50s to the late 70s, is remembered almost as much for its long succession of hosts as it is for its programming.
McAllister would host Wonderama until 1977, when executives decided to drop the comedy/variety format of the show and replace it with an hour-long news magazine and travelogue hosted by, and aimed at, teenagers.
Wonderama was truly an amazing show, finding its way into the lives of many people despite being seen, for the most part, only on local New York television.

Anyone remember the TV Show Wonderama? - Deal of Days' DealTalk
Around 1983 Bob McAllister, the former host, was interviewed and he told the story about how Metromedia "got rid" of many of tapes of Wonderama, and in some cases tapes were thrown in the East River.
McAllister may very well have a point there since his show though a "kiddie show" did feature a lot of tv/rock stars from the 70s including the Bay City Rollers, ABBA (who didn't do a lot of tv back then), KC and the Sunshine Band, Laverne and Shirley, and Tatum O'Neil.
Wonderama could have been rerun today on TV Land or even on VH1, had the show been saved.

Deal of Days' DealTalk - Anyone remember the TV Show Wonderama?
MetroMedia Stations (The old DuMont Television Network, and now part of Fox OandO's) ran this hour long children's entertainment show (Games, contests, music, interviews) Sunday mornings for almost 15 years, ending I believe in 1979.
When McAllister died a few years back I remember hearing a story not long before his death that he was reduced to doing "private parties" and advertsing his services at local bowling alleys calling himself the Wonderama Man.
If those tapes survived, and were repackaged for syndication, perhaps there would be a show built around it like they do today with American Dreams.

The tune was the theme song for a show called Wonderama here in the New York area.
The show was very popular in the 'sixties because it was the only kid's show to air on Sunday mornings.
I checked out the Wonderama web site but, while it offered RealAudio clips of the show, there was no mention of the theme song.

 Splendor: a 99¢Only Stores Wonderama
On Saturday, NOVEMBER 29, 2003, Evidence Room presented the world premiere of SPLENDOR, A 99¢ ONLY STORES WONDERAMA by music-theater auteur Ken Roht.
The production featured 30 of Los Angeles' most fascinating performers and was designed by the same team that brought you last years wildly successful 99¢ Only extravaganza.
Roht’s dance choreography, though professionally tight, never loses the performance’s delightful spirit of abandon, and Roht’s use of gibberish lyrics further infuses the production with an unbridled quality.
