Wong is an English transliteration of the Chinese surname, "huang." It is a 4500 year-old Chinese imperial family name for the descendants of the Yellow Emperor -- the huangdi in Mandarin, or the wongdtei in Cantonese.
The ideograph for Wong / Huang consists of the radicals of "twenty", "fires" and "fields," all representing the color of these images combined.
There are about 60-70 million Chinese descendants with the surname "Wong." People from the House of Wong include: "Wong Fei Hong"; Hong Kong star Anthony Wong Yiu-Ming; the Hollywood grand dame, Jadin Wong; and Hong Kong art house director Wong Kar-Wai.

Wong is my surname, and Kiew Kit is my personal name.
In Chinese culture, the surname preceeds the personal name; hence Kiew Kit Wong is not correct, neither is Sifu Kit, although many Chinese in the West do place their personal names before their surnames as in Western culture.

 The Name
Wong's surname and middle name, though they may be taken from the infamous Chinese action star, are unique words with meanings in their own right.
While there are several differnt meanings for the words 'Yun' and 'Fat', after careful deliberation I concluded that, since Wong is from Neo Hong Kong and the Cantonese dialect of the Chinese language is most prevalently spoken there, that his last name should follow the Cantonese translation.
The name of Wong creates a quick, analytical, and clever mind; you are creative, versatile, original, and independent.

The most obvious difference is that Reeves took his white stepfather's surname after early separation from his natural father.
Russell should have done like his brother Michael Wong, a major star in Hong Kong films and learned Chinese and I am sure he would have been had better luck there then he would had in Hollywood, at least it maybe it would have paved a path for him, like it did Chow Yun-Fat.
Russell Wong has succeeded and could continue to succeed in affecting the sterotypes of Asian men in the media, and putting himself on the same playing field as the Brad Pitts and Tom Cruises of the world.
