Wong Kan Seng (Simplified Chinese: 黄根成; pinyin: Huáng Gēnchéng; born 1946) is the Minister for Home Affairs in Singapore and the Deputy Prime Minister.
Wong was credited for his highly successful handling of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) crisis in 2003.
Wong is considered to be part of Singapore's third generation leadership that includes Lee Hsien Loong, S Jayakumar, Yeo Cheow Tong, Mah Bow Tan and others.

SINGAPORE Home Minister Wong Kan Seng Tuesday told the parliament that there are no plans to introduce overseas voting in the forthcoming presidential election.
Answering a question from a parliament member when the parliament sat Tuesday afternoon, Wong said he estimates from experience that only about 3.5 percent of electors are likely to be overseas for various reasons and they will be dispersed in many countries and many locations.
Wong said the government recognizes that this is not a static situation and the case for overseas voting may change as more Singaporeans will work abroad as a result of economic globalization.

A number of international civil society groups are drafting a letter to the government of Singapore to dissuade the country from vows that its chief security official made against their activities.
Singapore's Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng had reportedly said that certain civil society actions may "attract severe punishment, including caning and imprisonment" in this southeast Asian country where a political gathering of more than four people requires a security permit.
Activists interpreted this as a more or less veiled threat towards civil society organisations and wrote a letter to be sent to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, possibly later this week, asking him to roll back the warning and allow full access to the groups during the Sept. 19-20 meetings.
