		Wonsaponatime cannot be recommended to those who are already unfamiliar with Lennon's work.
		Wonsaponatime is overall not a very bad album, although some of the tracks make me wonder why they were chosen from the Anthology, rather than some more seemingly suitable selections.
		the "wonsaponatime" version of "i found out" almost sounds like a blues record from the 20's or something.another stand out is the stripped version of "real love" which at first listen i realized was much more beautiful in it's original simplicity than the "beatles/threatles" version recorded for the "beatles anthology".

		Wonsaponatime culls 22 tracks from that collection and should be all the casual fan needs.
		The highlights are the raw, acoustic demo of "Working Man's Hero," a biting attack on the socialization process of school and career and an early version of "Imagine," complete with a churchy-sounding organ, a bit of ironic Lennon humor given the "and no religion too" line in the song.
		If there's anything that Wonsaponatime proves, it is that from the earliest demo version of a song to its final recorded form, Lennon never held anything back in any performance and that is what gives his songs their eternal resonance.

		"Wonsaponatime" has a handful of mildly satisfying cuts, like the biting, acoustic version of "Working Class Hero" and a powerfully yearning "Baby Please Don't Go." But unlike, say, Bob Dylan's "Bootleg Series," Bruce Springsteen's new "Tracks" or the Beatles' own "Anthology" series, there's nothing here that's really essential.
		Consequently, both the "Lennon Anthology" and "Wonsaponatime" detract from Lennon's rich legacy.
		Everything about "Wonsaponatime" -- from it's childish, Sly Stone-esque title to the 10-second cameo snippets of John and Yoko singing classics such as "As Time Goes By" -- feels almost grotesquely contrived.

		If The John Lennon Anthology is the musical equivalent of a scholarly four-part biography that looks terrific on the bookshelf and is enjoyable to page through now and then, Wonsaponatime is the condensed popular-press bio that one can actually settle down with and digest.
		Consisting of 21 solo Lennon tracks cut between 1969 and 1980, Wonsaponatime, like the bulky Anthology, offers a selection of home, live, and studio recordings that have been buried for decades.
		Each part of the ex-Beatle's solo career is represented, from his probing Plastic Ono Band phase (truly the highlights here), through his misbegotten counterculture-icon-in-the-making state, into his more-focused, less-inspired mid-'70s recordings, and closing with his final-days comeback sessions.

	John Lennon: Wonsaponatime
		Given the release of six CDs worth of unreleased and alternate-take Beatles' material on the Anthology series, it is not surprising that enterprising executive producer, Yoko Ono, could scrounge up four discs worth of John Lennon noodlings and curiosities for a deluxe box set.
		What is surprising is that the one disc of selected highlights, presented by Capitol Records under the playful moniker, Wonsaponatime, a compilation of what must, in their knowledgeable executive minds, pass for the best of the lot, lands on the listener with such a complete and annoying thud.
		A final thought: Denis Leary, comedian extraordinaire, once noted that the unfairness of life could be demonstrated by the fact that John Lennon and Yoko Ono were standing side by side when he was murdered, yet he took eight shots while she emerged unharmed.

		Containing first takes of classic songs such as "Imagine" (which contains an added drum, guitar and electric piano section) and "Real Love," the record is sure to leave any Lennon fan drooling for more.

	John Lennon - Wonsaponatime @ Soundbug
		I also have the Lennon box set, and while I do appreciate all of Lennon's work, I find that Wonsaponatime contains most of my favorite songs from the box set.
		WONSAPONATIME certainly offers an opportunity to dig deeper into the Lennon vault than most people would have thought possible.
		Essential listening for fans and even casual listeners will find much of it rewarding.

		Long Review: How many Lennon demo's and outtakes are there out there?
		Whoever wasn't suckered into buying the full Anthology, surely bought what one would think are the highlights of the anthology, "Wonsaponatime." Don't get me wrong, there are some great versions on here, but some of them aren't too different from the album take of the song.
		Lennon assimilated charisma, music, current issues, personal reflection, intense emotions and honesty in his final solo years.
