 Woodall Mountain, Mississippi
Woodall Mountain (known as "Yow Hill") is the only state high point that was subject to a battle (although Washington, D.C.'s, Fort Reno helped repulse a Confederate invasion of the capitol).
After the battle was engaged a second force led by General Ord was supposed to overwhelm the Confederates from Corinth in the West and push the army into the Tennessee River to the north and east..
According to the accounts, Confederates wedged in a ravine between the summits on Woodall were able to capture the summit and six or nine Union canons forcing the Union to hide behind adjacent ridges.

Far up in the northeast corner of Mississippi, where the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains begin to play out amidst topographical uplifts and valleys every bit as charming as the Great Smoky Mountains themselves, can be found Mississippi's highest point atop Woodall Mountain.
Yet, despite a vast difference in elevations, Woodall Mountain, Mississippi and Clingman's Dome, Tennessee have a lot in common.
Yet today, with Mississippi's loss of a representative in Congress because of a non-competitive growth rate based on recently released census figures, maybe it is a ripe time to put this state's best foot forward as a retirement region.

Woodall's most recent release, "Alberts Warning" is a collection of pieces scored for a variety of configurations that enhance his virtuoso performance.
Woodall has had experience with film music, which somehow makes sense although his music works extremely well removed from any visual or narrative context (much like innovative film composer Bernard Herrman).
