The present, incomplete, Mansion at Woodchester Park replaced a Georgian country house called Spring Park, which was built at the beginning of the 17th Century and named for the several springs in the valley.
Woodchester is undoubtedly Bucknall's most important work and, despite being incomplete, illustrates the depth of knowledge gained after only a brief period of study.
In 1988 the Woodchester Mansion Conservation Group was set up, becoming a Charitable Trust in 1989, and in 1992 signed a 99-year lease on the property.

Woodchester park, otherwise known as Spring Park due to the many springs located along the valley sides, is about a mile away from Nailsworth and is without doubt, this area's treasure.
It could be described as a 'hidden valley', having been closed to the public for many years, you are now free to explore.
Due to it's location a reasonable amount of effort is required to explore the whole park, which is around three miles from the top of the valley near Nympsfield (visitors car park, and signs warning burglers the the police are active in the area) to the other end near Woodchester, the end nearest to Nailsworth.

 Alteration to the historic dams within Woodchester Park - Cotswold Archaeology
Woodchester Park, near Nailsworth, Gloucestershire and its associated dams form part of an artificial landscape, within the steep-sided and wooded Inchbrook valley.
The alterations were undertaken in order that the dams conform to the reservoirs act 1973 and involved the strengthening of the tops of the dams and the creation of flood level spillways so as to enable the dams to control the release of water should they be overwhelmed by a sudden rise in water level.
The park is open to the public and enjoyed by many walkers, whilst the ponds provide sport for a private anglers club, although the park is perhaps best known for the never completed 19th century grand house, Woodchester Mansion, which stands near the top of the valley and is currently owned by a private trust.
