Founded in 1834, at the insistence of prominent Worcester citizens, Worcester Academy was expected to be an all boys prepatory school.
Worcester Academy was opened under the name The Worcester County Manual Labor High School and did not change until February 24, 1847.
Therefore, the change of name to Worcester Academy and the change of ciriculum became a herald for a new period in the Academy's history.

Finally in 1870, it became Worcester Academy only to be torn down in 1964 at age 112.
Worcester Acadamy was founded in 1834 on a farm on the summit of land between Oread and Benefit St. Benefit St got it's name from the fact that land was sold to help support the school when it's funds were low.
Academy was where Abby Hoffman went to school (not sure of years), and stories are told of his bowling in the dorm hallways and helping himself to clean shirts in the laundry rooms!

Flynn a joint opposition with defendant Notre Dame Academy to stop the motion to compel production of certain attorney work, product material generated by the defendant’s counsel and by Sgt. Marian McGovern of the Massachusetts State police.
The Worcester Voice has issued the following pubic information request to DA John Conte for all names of those clergy members incardinated or not in the Worcester diocese who were presented to the Grand Jury and received a "no bill." Requested years will be 2000 to present.
