At the Forge - WordPress | Linux Journal
You probably want to put the WordPress files inside of their own directory or perhaps under a virtual host, but all of the files must be within the document root if they are to be of any use.
The authors of WordPress, to their credit, have spent a great deal of time on the user interface, trying to ensure that it is straightforward and unsurprising for nontechnical users.
WordPress is sensitive to the fact that deleting data is a dangerous act that the user always should have to confirm.

 NewsForge | Review: Wordpress 1.5
Wordpress can be configured to allow these users to create and manage their own posts, as well as grant access to otherwise "private" posts, but for a large number of users with complex or detailed security settings, a community CMS, such as phpNuke, offers far more functionality.
Wordpress exposes a plug-in architecture that allows you to add additional functionality with ease, assuming you have a reasonable grasp of PHP and an understanding of the Wordpress architecture.
Wordpress uses a Web-based wiki for documentation and support, to allow users to contribute as well as consume documentation.

The Manolo uses the Wordpress for the Shoeblog, and the Blogger for most of the other blogs, but only because he is too lazy to move the other blogs to the far superior Wordpress application.
I also intend to outline some areas of the code that need to be cleaned up or reviewed so that those interested in helping with some of the smaller development chores can take on some tasks that will help them get their feet wet in the WP core.
WordPress uses the php-gettext library by Danilo Šegan to handle retrieval of translated messages.

Waxy.org: Daily Log: Wordpress Website's Search Engine Spam

Wordpress is such a great product and Matt is obviously a very very smart guy for getting Wordpress off the ground (along with the other contributors).
Wordpress is a great piece of software, I like using it, and I think the benefits it has provided allow us to look past this mistake.

 WordPress - DreamHost
Installing WordPress on Dreamhost is really simple: just go to the goodies section on Panel (https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=goodies.installer) and use the One Click Install.
The permalink structure tags require that WordPress be invoked through internal redirection in order to match database records to the values present in the URI.
To avoid problems, one should avoid installing WordPress into the root OR use a permalink structure that does not begin with a tag.

 How To Blog: WordPress
The difference with WordPress is that it's plugins can tell which comments and trackbacks are likely spam and hold those comments/trackbacks (and ONLY those ones) in the moderation queue, while publishing everything else immediately if you so desire (which I do).
WordPress is smarter than TypePad in recognizing spam and filtering it into a seperate queue for moderation, where I can scan through the hoard and do a ‘mark all as spam’ and get back to what I was doing.
WordPress plugins are generally easy to install, only requiring you to upload them to your wp-content/plugins/ directory and then go to your Plugin Manager and ‘Activate’ the plugin of choice.

WordPress has excelled on many fronts, including ease of installation (two-step process, what could be easier), link management (the link manager software is praise-worthy on its own, people often seem to miss how important it is for anyone organizing their bookmarks) and extensibility (plugins and hacks abound).

Jeffrey Zeldman Presents : Why WordPress?
In WordPress, it’s easy to create and edit categories, easy to write themelines for all my categories at once, and even easy to tell when I’m writing too many words for the page — because WordPress also thinks like a designer.
I’m supposed to like WordPress because it’s open source, not proprietary, but I have nothing against developers who choose to protect their intellectual content.
I use WordPress because I like it and it works for me. Most of you reading this already use WordPress or Movable Type or Squarespace and they are all great products.
