The growth of Port Klang to possibly one of the top 10 busiest container ports in the world this year can be attributed to its focus on transhipment.
PORT Klang is expected to show an increase of 15 per cent in container handling this year compared with last year even though most regional ports are set to experience a decline in throughput figures in 2001.
Of Port Klang's total container throughput at present, 50 per cent comes from transhipment cargo, while 90 per cent of PTP's business is derived from this sector.
