To, it should be the World Heavyweight Champioship because it says World, but to the WWE, the WWE Championship is because it is the Original Championship of the company dating back to 1963.
World Heavyweight Championship especially when Triple H was giving the honor to use this legendary belt on RAW a few years ago.
In 2004-5 it was the World and not it's the WWE.

The fact that the WWE has two World Championships, I think degrades the belt as it is not seen with the prestige as once was.
Even though the both championships are of equal value I find that in conclusion, at the moment in time I see the RAW brands, World Heavyweight Championship as the much better belt because of the man that has made that what it is today.
The WWE championship is the coninuation of the Unified Championship.

On January 11, 1991, Ric Flair defeated Sting to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, which was supposed to have been defended throughout the NWA territories.
Turner's company, now officially World Championship Wrestling, recognized Flair as the first ever WCW World Champion and continued to use the NWA "big gold" belt.
In June 1994, WCW decided to end the controversy once and for all with a unification match which saw the current WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair defeat the WCW International Heavyweight Champion Sting.
