After competing in a heat race where the world's fastest time was set, the young Australian pair of Ross Brown and George Roberts had to finish in the first three in the repechage to make the semi-finals of the event.
Despite rowing the equal third fastest second 500 metres they remained in fifth place and again rowed a faster 500 metres than other crews in the third 500 but were unable to improve from fifth.

With the help of my buddies at Marin Rowing, Perry at Open Water Rowing, and Anna Cohen from University of Miami (home for the summer with her own training schedule for the summer) I was able to get on the water every day, plus one work out a day on the rowing machine.
We then made it to St. Joseph's boathouse for the 5pm row, which ended up being on rowing machines because all the rain water caused the river to be too high and fast to row on.
We weren´t allowed to row today because there was no "official" time set aside for the adaptive boats to be on the water, and I am sure there is a great risk of us drowning if we don't have the proper athorities following us on the race course (grin).

The International Rowing Federation FISA today announced that the start of the 2005 World Rowing Championships in Gifu, Japan will be postponed for 48 hours due to typhoon Mawar.
There will be no rowing on the water for the more than 800 rowers over the next three days but the organising committee has put in place 114 rowing ergometers which will allow the rowers to continue to train.
Currently Gifu, Japan, venue of the 2005 World Rowing Championships, is experiencing heavy rain and wind as the area prepares for an approaching typhoon.

For the fourth consecutive year, Cooper Wessells '88 traveled to the FISA World Rowing Championships in August as part of the U.S. rowing team.
His love of rowing drives Wessells to spend much of the year shuttling between his job as director of warehouse operations at Books on Tape in Newport Beach, Calif., and his training at Undine Boat Club in Philadelphia, where fellow rower Noah Hawk '99 also trains.
