When selecting Worldcat records to request there are certain types of materials that are not eligible for ILL service.
If you are interested in requesting a single article out of a serial you located in Worldcat, use the interlibrary loan web form.
Another type of material listed in Worldcat that should not be requested on interlibrary loan are Computer files since they can normally be accessed directly from the Internet by selecting the hyperlink.

WorldCat allows one to limit searches in a multitude of ways: to date ranges, to material types, to languages, to availability (by how many libraries hold the item), etc.

WorldCat · Clearly, it's expensive to catalog all the books that all the libraries buy; furthermore, given that every serious library in the world is going to acquire Vikram Seth's next novel and Bill Clinton's memoirs, it seems redundant for everyone to do essentially the same task.
WorldCat has basically no full-text, but they know a lot about each object they have, starting with basic stuff like who wrote it, and when and where that happened.
Basically, WorldCat is like a library catalog, and so FirstSearch is like a library catalog, and you normally search such a thing with what librarians call an OPAC, for “online public access catalog.” Many educational-institution and public libraries put their OPACs up on the Web for anyone to use.
