Worldcraft has been great, too, but dealing with Windows' weird inconsistencies and structurally restrictive environment becomes a programming chore that almost outweighs the benefits of developing for a standardized OS.
Worldcraft, although it will be the editor for Half-Life (and be shipped with the game as well), will also be updated to support the popular games being released that use the Quake engine.
Worldcraft support for the new games that have a lot of new features will be decided on individually.

Worldcraft was a much better choice: not only was it great for building and texturing levels, it also had a customizable entity system that allowed us to create our own objects (lights, doors, characters, etc.), each with their own unique set of properties.
Worldcraft’s batch commands made it easy to save the current level, copy it to a new directory, run the import tool, and launch the game, all by clicking a single button.
Worldcraft had a few annoying bugs and limitations, but we developed workarounds.

Also, the size() and color() parts of the definition will let Worldcraft know how to display the entity when you are making a level.
SolidClass entities are those entities that have to be attached to a brush The reason for the two sets of values in size(x y z, x y z), instead of just giving one width, height, and depth, is that some entities are not "centered" at their middle point.
:) Worldcraft defaults to using the standard magenta (?) color for entities if no color is specified But, if you think that your custom entity deserves to have some flashy color, say...tangerine...you can specify color(255 136 17), which would be the red/green/blue color values for a bright orange.
