  Honor Harrington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Honor Harrington is a fictional character, the eponymous heroine of a series of science fiction books set in the "Honorverse", written by David Weber and published by Baen Books.
Honor was born on October 1, 3961 AD on Sphinx, the third inhabited planet of the Star Kingdom of Manticore.
Honor is one of the few people adopted by a Sphinxian treecat (whom she has named Nimitz), and she has devoted considerable research to them.

The Honor Harrington series is a huge (and deserved) success and fans wi11 enjoy seeing how different authors play with the universe that author David Weber has created.
Honor herself appears in only one of these stories (a1though she is mentioned in most) and the stories are not essentia1 to the continuity of the series.

First off, let me state that the Honor Harrington series is one of the best things to happen to the science fiction field for quite awhile, at least since the quiet death of the cyberpunk movement.
For those of you new to David Weber, World of Honor has five tales in the universe of the Honor Harrington series (which started with On Basilisk Station).
Honor Harrington now appears to be a franchise, something that makes me a little bit uncomfortable; however, my wife bought me this book, and I willingly read it, so that says something, I suppose.

I rea11y like the Honor Harrington stories, and decided to read this book to fi11 in some background for other recent books in the series.
Some of the characters seemed interesting, and the frequently positive interaction between citizens/agents of the Star Kingdom of Manticore and the Republic of Haven, two star nations that are norma11y enemies, was a nice change of pace.
Usua11y when such interactions have occurred in the Honor Harrington series, it has been in the framework of Havenites acting against their tota1itarian leaders, but this time it was a little different.
