The Watchman Expositor: Worldwide Church of God - Are We There Yet?
The Worldwide Church of God is a Christian denomination and a member of the National Association of Evangelicals and Evangelical Ministries to New Religions (EMNR).
In December of 1990 a church spokesman stated in a radio interview that the WCG was not the exclusive body of believers (taped interview on file).
The WCG is a dysfunctional family that is trying to move forward under the burden of the betrayal of trust that is the pain of the past.

Worldwide Church of God (WCG) - religious cults, sects and movements
Throughout most of its history, the Worldwide Church of God - founded and led by Herbert W. Armstrong - was, theologically, a cult of Christianity.
Some attended the church's Ambassador College and joined a media empire that strove to link current events to prophecies of a coming ''Tribulation.'' Renamed the Worldwide Church of God, the congregation claimed 100,000 members and a $131 million annual budget when the founder, who called himself ''Christ's chosen apostle,'' died in 1986 at age 93.

 Worldwide Church of God
In mid-1978, six Worldwide Church of God members met with the California Attorney General with documents they claimed demonstrated that the financial affairs of the church and the foundation were being seriously abused and that the church consistently violated its own laws in denying church members any influence in supposedly democratic processes.
The Global Church of God, established in 1993, is the second largest of such churches, at 7,000 members.
The WCG argued that because the copyright to Mystery of the Ages was in the church's name, no other individualor organization had the right to copy or distribute the publication, and the church requested from the court both a preliminary and a permanent injunction against further reprinting of the book.

Was the Worldwide Church of God The True Church?
The Worldwide Church of God has embraced the religions of the world and is no longer preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God.
It was the church Jesus said He would be with until the end of the age, and the one that was destined to turn from the truth given to it.
If this is true, then the Worldwide Church of God, as well as the various splinter groups, who accepted the ungodly doctrinal changes of 1974–75, have no foundation for their beliefs other than what this or that scholar says is truth.

Field Guide: Profile of the Worldwide Church of God
This section of the Field Guide is dedicated to description and evaluation of the WCG as it had been under HWA, and to the many teachers and breakaway groups which maintain some or all of the doctrinal distinctives, procedures and policies of the parent organization.
Because HWA was God's Apostle, his authority within the organizational structure of the WCG was that of a total dictator.
The WCG was built in great measure on the foundation of false prophecy, as HWA used that false prophecy to persuade his supporters to send the money necessary to build the system.

Worldwide Church of God's Faulty Orthodoxy
WCG now endorses such ecumenical movements as Promise Keepers (which came out of the Vineyard Fellowship), and the Church Growth Movement (Rick Warren).
In spite of all that looks good on the surface, WCG never fully addressed the devastation they caused in countless thousands of lives, nor have they admitted that Herbert W. Armstrong used thought reform methods to con multitudes into his exclusive cult where they were exploited and spiritually abused.
Today there are hundreds of breakaway groups that have spawned from the Worldwide Church of God--the majority still teaching the same Armstrong doctrines and believing HWA received the "restored gospel" and "revelation" from God.

A Brief History of the Worldwide Church of God
He mistakenly taught that God is a family, and that the Father and the Son are two beings in that family, and that when humans are resurrected, they will be members of the God Family.
WCG members were not allowed to vote, serve in the military, marry after divorce, go to doctors, use cosmetics, or observe Christmas, Easter and birthdays.
The church declared that the cross is not a pagan symbol, that it is not a sin to have illustrations of Jesus, and that Christians may vote.

From the Worldwide Church of God
I was raised attending and believing in the teachings of the pseudo-Christian cult, the Worldwide Church of God and its founder, Herbert W. Armstrong.
We believed that Jesus was the Son of God, but we didn't believe in the triune God and didn't believe Jesus should be worshiped because that would elevate Him to equality with God.
People at this church talked a lot about salvation, but my ideas about what it was and how it was possible had been so twisted that it took awhile for me to understand that it truly is a free gift which comes to us through faith and that we can actually have it now.

However, we would want to encourage the WCOG leadership to continue their reforms, forgetting those things which are past, looking forward to what lies ahead, and pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Some felt that, under Rader's influence, Armstrong began to de-emphasize the Christological aspects of church doctrine, instead preaching a message of peace, brotherly love, and "giving and not getting." Others say that this approach was to announce the coming Kingdom of God and mankind's duty to that end.
The Worldwide Church of God claims 64,000 members in 860 churches in approximately 90 nations of the world (as of 2004) although this figure may be questionable.

Tkach proclaims that the Worldwide Church now uses the Greek term hypostasis in preference to the English word "person": "Our teaching is that God is one Being, existing eternally in three hypostases: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."[33] Unlike the term "person," the word hypostasis is used biblically in a Trinitarian context.
I believe the Worldwide Church of God is to be commended for producing an explanation of the Trinity which, in the main, addresses the concerns of thoughtful Trinitarians.

The biblical writers did not write their own words, but were directed supernaturally by the Spirit of God, sometimes called the Holy Ghost.
Inspiration of the Bible is an important Christian doctrine, but it can be hard to describe, and there are many views as to how it actually works.
No matter how we interpret the idea of inspiration, there is no doubt among Christians that God Himself through the Holy Spirit was involved in the creation and sanctification of the Bible.
