Worshipful Company of Saddlers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Worshipful Company of Saddlers is one of the most ancient of the Livery Companies of the City of London.
The City granted the Company the right to regulate the trade of saddle-making; all saddlers in and within two miles of the City were subject to the Company's regulations.
The Company ranks twenty-fifth in the order of precedence of Livery Companies (the order was settled in 1515 on the Companies' economic or political power at that time).

Livery Company - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 107 Livery Companies are trade associations based in the City of London, each known as the Worshipful Company of the relevant trade or profession.
The Livery Companies originally developed as guilds and were responsible for the regulation of their trades, controlling, for instance, wages and labour conditions.
Among the earliest companies known to have possessed halls were the Merchant Taylors and Goldsmiths in the 14th century, but neither theirs nor other companies' original halls remain; the few survivors of the Great Fire were destroyed, along with many reconstructed ones, during the Blitz.

 The Worshipful Company of Saddlers
The Worshipful Company of Saddlers is one of the very oldest of the City of London Livery companies.
By the 16th century the economic balance of the City had moved from the craft companies to the merchant companies, and when, in 1515, the City Court of Aldermen established an order of precedence of Livery companies, the Saddlers – despite their seniority in terms of years – were allocated 25th place.
The Company is proud of its heritage and to this day remains a "working" company.

With this in mind, the Worshipful Company of Saddlers, together with the Society of Master Saddlers, has developed a new Saddlery Apprenticeship Scheme, incorporating a more structured and comprehensive training programme than previously existed.
It was realised that, in addition to the craft skills required of a saddler, it was important that those in training should have a sound knowledge of other things that would arise in the course of their work.
The Worshipful Company of Saddlers has invested funds to provide a modest level of financial support for those undertaking the obligations of the Scheme.

Apprenticeship lasts for 4 years, with the Apprentice's indenture papers registered with the Society of Master Saddlers, so that any dispute or difference may be arbitrated by the Society.
