Experts Cast Doubt on Worth of New York Plan to Fingerprint for Medicaid
New York was among the first states to try the new technology, and as it proclaimed success against welfare cheats, other states followed.
New York is now expanding its $40 million contract with a French defense contractor to require the finger imaging of about 440,000 adults who qualify for Medicaid.
New York's use of finger imaging for Medicaid patients, authorized by its 1997 welfare law, will not affect groups whose care accounts for three-quarters of the Medicaid budget: nursing home residents, home health care recipients, people in institutions and people who apply for Medicaid in a hospital or clinic rather than a social service office.

New York Salvaged Vehicle Regulations and Consumer Protections - DMV.ORG
New York's Department of Motor Vehicles must brand the title of a vehicle eight years old or newer that the owner certifies was either destroyed or received damage worth 75% of its retail value―such as a car that was mangled in a crash.
Therefore, the New York DMV protects consumers by issuing a salvage title and requiring sellers to disclose vehicle damage, even if the damage was repaired.
If the title or damage disclosure indicates the vehicle was destroyed or damaged, the DMV will not issue a new title to the new owner until its investigators have inspected the vehicle to make sure neither the car nor its parts were stolen.

A PS3 Bundle Worth Buying | NEW YORK – TOKYO

Sony announced this week that it will be releasing a new SKU for it’s Playstation 3 line that will include Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a DualShock 3 wireless controller, and an 80GB version of the PS3 for only $499.  An amazing deal.
It seems the big game retailers have already responded; Best Buy and Gamestop have since removed the 80GB version of the PS3 from their websites.  One would only suspect they did this in preparation for the massive customer interest in the MGS4 bundle near the game’s supposed launch in the 2nd quarter of this year.

The mine is worth a lot of money; its reserves of gold as well as silver and copper are worth an estimated $800 million.
Caused in part by leaching from a tailings pond, it was the costliest mine-pollution accident in Colorado history: The company responsible went bankrupt, and the Environmental Protection Agency says the cleanup could end up costing the taxpayers $20 million.
Whatever the risk posed by the New World mine, a paradox is that -- because of eccentricities in the 1872 Mining Act -- Noranda, like all mining companies, has been able to acquire Government lands at 19th-century prices and need not pay royalties on the minerals extracted.
