 Renee King vs Peter Worthless
The Ontario Appeal Court's ruling that not permitting gay marriages "demeans the dignity of same-sex couples and is contrary to the values of a free and democratic society," is as much hogwash as saying a heterosexual couple that chooses not to marry loses dignity and is demeaned.
Worthington fails to realize is that not all same-sex couples have the desire to marry, just as not all heterosexual couples have the desire to marry, but we would like to have that option, because anything less deems us second-class citizens, not worthy of the same rights as the rest of Canadians.
Worthington that we already have the right to adopt in most provinces, but the only reason that the children of same-sex couples *may* have a tough time is because of the ignorance and homophobia that runs rampant in our society.

Wages for Ontario workers are 23 per cent less than those in the U.S. in the industries that are most important to Ontario's prosperity, says a preliminary report released Friday by an institute supported by the provincial government.
Ontario firms are not as productive as their American equals because they don't face the same competitive pressures that develop in industry clusters across the border, said James Milner, executive director of the Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity.
The report showed that Ontario had a "good mix" of industry clusters -- such as metal manufacturing -- but discovered they were not as effective as the same clusters in peer states.

Bergerons Exotic Animal Sanctuary Friends and Supporters
The Township of Hallowell passed a by-law rezoning the Bergeron property and permitting its use for a "petting zoo, a dog kennel, animal pound and agriculture." This was immediately appealed by a neighbouring farmer and as a form of settlement the township council then deleted "petting zoo" as a permitted use.
Prince Edward County officials informed the Bergerons that their property was zoned only for agricultural or residential use, and that while the operation of a kennel or animal pound was acceptable the operation of their sanctuary was considered to be in contravention of the bylaws.
Is there not a law somewhere that states the provisions for a grandfather clause when a township is amalgamated? You were operating in accordance with zoning by-laws at the time of amalgamation and yet the newly amalgamated board finds you in contradiction of THEIR by-laws.
